No. This proposed location is well hidden from the main throughfare (Stagecoach) which indeed will cause an attractive nuisance and prevent quiet enjoyment of one's own property on the nearby Stagecoach, Suzanne Lane, and other streets. One thing that the map doesn't show that is readily observable in person is that a large portion of that parcel is a steep decline into the open space; therefore, the useable area is much reduced.
As residents adjoining this parcel, we have for years conended with teens parking and partying on the maintenance yard, and the Club has done all it can in terms of preventative measures. A park will simply give an excuse for presence, as it will then be public land instead of private land. If Four Hills is to have a park, it should in in a location near The Reserve, where there are better suited empty lots. -- Laura, 01/04/09

No. Oh ya, this park sounds great unless it is right next to your house. Then you would all be whining about it. " Too many lights, too much dog crap, too much noise, parties, attendent thefts, too much traffic, etc." I guess it would give my teens a safe place to drink beer with their non Four Hills friends. Not in my backyard. -- AG, 12/26/08

Yes. I think a park would be a good idea, as long as it was designed right. I have one child, and soon will have two, and the one thing that Four Hills is missing is a safe place for family to exercise and play. I love my neighborhood, and do think this would be a great asset. Also, my family loves walking daily, and it is difficult in the winter when it gets dark early, traffic is moving faster, and there are no walk paths that are stroler friendly. I think the park will need proper lighting, parking, and plently of trash recetacles to keeper it safe and clean. -- Danielle, 09/29/08

Yes. Two green thumbs way up for a park in Four Hills! Parks increase property value and neighborhood cohesion (something sadly lacking in the last few years). Parks allow children to play, families to picnic, and dogs to be walked. It's misleading to equate a well-lit park on Stagecoach with the dark and hidden Open Space.
The proposed site is currently dusty and dark, how can adding trees and lights make it more dangerous? The idea that bad guys from outside our area would drive all the way out to Four Hills to go to a park is just plain xenophobic. And besides, if it turns out to be a bad idea, I assume we can ask the city to shut it down. We'll never know until we try, so let's give it a go and bring some green to our neighborhood. -- Green Lover, 08/31/08

Yes. It would be wonderful to have a park in the neighborhood. The Four Hills community has shifted in the past few years - there are more and more families here with young children - including myself. I understand that some people are afraid a park would bring unwanted and dangerous people but that could happen all over Alb - it doesn't stop other neighborhoods from having their parks. With the security we now have with Aaron, we have some way to oversee safety. We shouldn't let our fears about crime stop us from moving forward and providing a park for our children - if we do that then the bad guys win! -- Tricia and Steve Dwyer, 08/06/08

Yes. I think it would nbe a great asset to have a park in Four Hills. As a mother of three, I think Four Hills really needs a common space for families and other residents to use and to meet. I don't think other people will go out of their way to come into Four Hills to use a small park. -- anonymous, 08/06/08

Yes. I am resident of Four Hills Village writing in favor of a establishing a park in our neighborhood. I believe our neighborhood is strong and supportive enough to hold a park that is fun, clean and safe. Although they might attract some nuisances, I don t think that is enough to outweigh the positive effects a park can make. Please consider all of the pros and cons before a decision is reached. There are many families in this neighborhood and it would be nice to see something set up for them. -- Susan Oldfield, 08/05/08

Yes.A park would attract young families! With one way in and one way out, outsiders would probably not stumble upon our park. I think it would be great for FHV! -- anonymous, 07/31/08

Yes.A park will make FHV more attractive for families to want to move to the area. Most large cities that have growth build their communities around a park, a greenbelt and a community center. What does FHV have to attract families? Please don't say the country club, because not all families belong. I think it's a mistake to not make FHV more attractive to families. If you don't have the families moving in what type of homeowner do you get? You will have more rental houses and shady renters...hmmm and that leads to more crime, unsavory individuals in our neighborhood and lower property values. FHV already doesn't get the same $ per sq ft as other family friendly neighborhoods in this city. You can lock up parks and we already have security that could patrol the park. Look at all sides of the coin before you come to your decision. -- CP, 07/21/08

Yes.I think a park in Four Hills would be lovely. As a mother with small children, I'd welcome a 'destination' other than the Foothills. I know that it might bring in a few extra people, but we've got security people driving around already ... so we shouldn't be too worried about that, right? -- BreadHead, 07/21/08

Yes.A park will be good for Four Hills. It will attract younger families, and it will increases the price of homes. Remember, Supply and Demand. It will not bother me to have new blood in the Neighborhood. Also, will help to have a fire station near by. -- CJH, 07/17/08

Yes.A park in our neighborhood would be great for everyone!! Grandparents, families with small children, walkers, etc... Parks are a great place for neighbors to get together & sociallize & relax. Unlike the open space, parks are not desolate or hidden. They are a beautiful addition to any neighborhood. Also, parents with small children in Four Hills have to venture quite a ways to other city parks. Wouldn't it be great to get to know more kids in their neighborhood? A park is ideal for all generations to enjoy being outside, meeting with friends & playing with grandchildren. A park would be a valuable addition to our neighborhood. -- Shannon R., 07/16/08

No.So where would this 'park' go? The only available land is public open spen space. I would absolutely not want any of the public open space converted to active park with turf and playground. Let Juan Tabo Hills Development build a park. -- A neighbor, 07/13/08

No. unfortunately in this day & age it would draw none FH residents and could create problems similar to those experienced when the open space gates were removed. -- Anonymous, 07/11/08

Yes. Absolutely YES, a park would be wonderful in Four Hills!! The city has been adding play equipment to existing parks all over town and my kids and I have been visiting them and having a blast. It would be great to have one in our own neighborhood. I don't believe the park would draw more unwanted attention or visits into Four Hills. There are plenty of other unsupervised and unmonitored places to go. We are lucky to have security patroling the neighborhood and I know this service does wonders. -- Shannon, 07/08/08

No. Really a bad idea. -- Anonymous, 07/05/08

No. Parks, no matter where they are, invite unwanted folks into a neighborhood, just like open spaces. I think Four Hills residents have the where-with-all to furnish their children, and grand children, the recreational opportunities they need and I believe we'd just be asking for an invasion of our (mostly) quiet neighborhood.
I've had many years of experience in trying to preserve the integrity of public places, and found that it's a never ending source of aggravation and expense, and requires constant vigilance. The City has huge staffs to design, maintain and police parks throughout the City. Let the pro's and the well funded do parks.
If this sounds elitist, so be it. -- Verna Wood, 07/05/08

Yes. I'd be interested to know where the park would be. Having said that, I absolutely think that Four Hills should have a park. I know that those who are against something often speak the loudest so I sure hope that many people speak up in favor of a park. It's the one thing that this fantastic neighborhood lacks. I know that we have the Country Club but not everyone wants to be or can be members. My understanding is that Parks generally raise the property values in a neighborhood and I think that's something that everyone would be in favor of. We are a one way in and one way out neighborhood so I wouldn't think that traffic would increase. I know that Parks are often associated with Teens hanging out, possibly after dark and I know the concerns that brings. However, with the addition of the security company who patrols Four Hills I would think that this would be a deterrent to those teens who may want to hang out after dark. I have also noticed a change in the demographic of the neighborhood. There are more young families moving in who a park would greatly serve. In closing, my wife and I have always been surprised that we do not have a park up here and would definitely be in favor of one. I give a "LOUD" YES for the park. -- CMS, 07/04/08

No. Parks sometime attract the wrong type individuals & promote noise & increased trafic. -- Anonymouse, 07/03/08

Yes. We need a park for all the young people that we now have living in Four Hills and a nice place to walk to and relax. -- BuzzBunny, 07/01/08
